You need to change your eating habits, especially if you must lose weight and as lifestyle change to keep your diabetes in check. Other changes include:

This will influence how your body is managing and controlling your diabetes.Having each meal well-balanced with a combination of starches, fruits and vegetables, proteins and fats in every meal is good for everyone to try and very helpful if you have diabetes.Some carbohydrates, especially those in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are better for you as they have lower carbs and contain fiber that helps keep your blood sugar levels stable. Your doctor or dietician can help advise on choosing foods that suit you best.
- Coordinate your meals and medications—as we discussed in the section on injecting insulin, sometimes insulin injections are planned around meal times, and you need to make sure that you’re injecting the right dose so your blood sugar levels don’t get too low if you’re eating too little food (hypoglycemia) or too high if you eat too much food (hyperglycemia).
- Avoid high sugar beverages that can raise your blood sugar quickly but do not provide your body with any nutritional value.
